This plant is a friend to bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, deer, and rabbits.
This plant will only produce foliage in its first year and will erect its flower spike in the second year. It is an excellent background plant due to its height.
In spring, directly sow Foxglove seeds in the garden. Cover them lightly by sprinkling soil over them and water gently to avoid disturbing the freshly planted seeds. Germination should occur within 20 to 30 days.
This plant prefers moist soil and partial shade exposure. A layer of mulch can help retain moisture, especially during dry periods.
