  • 75 seeds
  • Matures in 160 days
  • Planting companions: eggplant, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, strawberry, potato, tomato
  • Poor companions: marjoram, oregano
  • Thyme grows well in pots, attracting bees and butterflies while repelling various harmful insects, including cabbage moths.
Start your Thyme seeds indoors 5 to 6 weeks before the last frost at a depth of ¼ inch. Germination can take up to 25 days. Once all risk of frost has passed, plant them in the garden, 12 inches apart, in sandy soil and full sunlight.
Thyme thrives on neglect and prefers dry soil without fertilizer. If the soil is too moist, diseases or fungi may develop.
Harvest fresh leaves when they reach the desired size by cutting them 1-2 inches above ground level. Trim the branches and dry them upside down in a cool, dry place. Store the dried leaves in an airtight container.
