Borage attracts pollinators like butterflies and bees and discourages pests. Its pleasant cucumber-like flavor will enhance your drinks, such as tea.
It is preferable to sow Borage directly in the garden as it does not tolerate transplanting well. Sow it at a depth of 1/4'' and 18'' apart. Borage is a plant that enjoys partial shade or full sun. It thrives in rich, moist, and well-drained soil.
A trellis may be necessary if the plant starts to sprawl. Also, remove faded flowers to encourage the production of new ones. Harvesting of the leaves can begin when the plant is well-established; the small tender leaves are preferred for culinary use as the older leaves bear prickly hairs. The flowers can be preserved, infused, or candied.
