The Californian Wonder300 sweet pepper is a popular vegetable in the garden for its mild and sweet flavor. Producing dark green, glossy vegetables, they will turn red when mature and measure about 5 inches in diameter.
About 8 weeks before the last expected frost, sow your peppers in peat pots. Plant the seeds at a depth of 1/4 inch and maintain the room temperature at around 25°C (80°F). When all danger of frost has passed, transplant the peppers into the garden, keeping a distance of 12 inches between each plant. Plant mulching can help control moisture and weeds. If the plants wilt due to the sun, you can provide them with shade.
The longer the peppers stay on the vine, the sweeter they will taste. Harvesting will primarily be a matter of personal preference regarding color and sweetness. However, ripe peppers signal the plant to stop producing new vegetables. Pick them while green, and your production will continue.
