The shiny leaves of this Swiss chard variety resemble spinach in appearance and flavor. Slower to bolt than traditional spinach, it is very hardy and prolific.
Plant them directly in the garden, one week after the last expected soil frost, at a depth of ½'' in rich, well-drained soil, about 5'' apart or 10'' for larger plant growth. You can sow them every two weeks for a continuous harvest. The plant can reach 24''.
The leaves can be harvested individually once they reach 8'' in height, and you can cut them one inch above the soil surface for another harvest from the same plant. The tasty leaves can be used fresh or frozen.
