Green anise has the property of repelling aphids, worms, and caterpillars.
It is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant that grows from 50 to 80 cm tall, with a mild flavor and is easy to cultivate. Anise seeds can be used whole or ground in your favorite recipes. The leaves and flowers can also be consumed in fruit salads, for example.
When all risk of frost is eliminated, sow anise in rich, well-drained soil at a depth of 1/4''. Cover with soil and water generously. The seeds should germinate within 15 days of planting.
Anise is easy to maintain; weed and keep the soil moist, especially in dry weather. Once it has grown, it will turn pale yellow; cut the stems and hang them upside down over a cloth to collect the falling seeds.
