This is an old variety of Mexican origin that is highly productive and not demanding in terms of water and nutrients. This bean retains its color when cooked.
Directly sow your bean seeds in a rich, well-drained soil in full sun at least one week after the last frost. Plant them 1'' deep and 16'' apart. Germination should occur within 10 days of planting.
Keep the soil moist by mulching around the base of the plants and water them at least once a week. Your first beans should appear approximately 10 weeks after germination. Beans taste best and are most tender when they are no larger than a pencil. Daily harvesting will improve plant productivity.
