Its crystalline foliage texture, colorful flowers, and ground-covering aspect make it one of our favorites. We are always delighted to see it return each year. Its masses of daisy-like flowers in red, orange, pink, yellow, purple, and white close in the evening and reopen late the next day. Blooming starts in June and lasts until September/October depending on climatic conditions.
The seeds require stratification to germinate. Place them in moist soil in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 days. Keep them in moist soil until germination, which should occur between 15 and 20 days.
Water the plants until they are well-established, but avoid overwatering. Mature plants tolerate drought well, making them an excellent choice for slopes, walls, and rock gardens.
