A favorite among many gardening enthusiasts, this bright red variety has crisp, sweet, white flesh. It is best grown in cool weather and in consistently moist soil. It holds up better over time compared to most other known radish varieties.
Sow your radish seeds directly in the garden, about four weeks before the last expected soil frost, at a depth of ½ inch, and 1 inch apart. Prepare rich, moist, and deeply worked soil. Thin them to about 3 inches apart or more for larger-sized radishes. For a continuous harvest, plant new ones every two weeks.
Radishes generally don't tolerate heat well, so avoid sowing them in the middle of summer. Harvest your radishes when they reach 1 or 2 inches in diameter for the best flavor.
