Type: Biennial Height: 32’’ Exposure: Full sun
This plant is a friend to bees and butterflies.
Comprising of translucent silver pods, these flowers have been highly valued in dried floral arrangements since colonial times.
Mix the seeds with damp soil and place them in the refrigerator for 60 days before planting in rich, well-drained soil in the garden. As the roots do not like to be disturbed, it is preferable not to transplant them. This plant typically only produces foliage in the first year, reaches its full size, and blooms in the second.
To add Lunaria to your dried arrangements, wait until the pods are dry on the plant before cutting them and hang them upside down to complete the drying process.
